Become a Neighborhood Captain in Allegheny! January 26, 2021 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM Come learn how to collect signatures in support of Alliance for Police Accountability (APA)?s ballot initiative to limit solitary confinement at the Allegheny County Jail! Neighborhood Captains and Neighborhood Deputies will use a voter list of their neighborhood and their personal connections to collect 50 or 25 signatures, respectively. There is no way we can win the Pennsylvania we want without organizing suburban Allegheny voters. Many white suburban voters have been sold the lie that they share more in common with the 1% than with the Black, Brown, and white working class people who are disproportionately caged in Allegheny County Jail, who are working for starvation wages, and who are hardest hit by the COVID crisis. Become a Neighborhood Captain/Deputy to build multi-racial power to change that.
Training: Become a Greensburg Neighborhood Captain January 30, 2021 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Organizing starts right where we live. Greensburg Neighborhood Captains will commit to talking with 40 neighbors each month to understand what they’re going through, what they want to see changed, and how they want to take action.
ECU Making a Hard Ask 101 January 30, 2021 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM We all get nervous about it—asking for money is weird, and often difficult the first time you ask. But it doesn’t need to be, or at least, not as much. With the right preparation and framing, this becomes an exciting task that allows you to connect someone with something they're passionate about. This workshop will help members focus on what elements of the organization to highlight in the ask, how to customize the ask, and how much to ask. Members will leave with a customizable plan for their ask.
