Weekend: Stories in the Seams: A Conversation & Patchwork Session on Kids’ Clothes, Care & Climate Community Event July 12, 2025 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM ET Worn-out knees. Stretched-out sleeves. Hand-me-downs patched and passed along. What if we saw these not as flaws — but as stories? Join Mothers Out Front and Left Knee Patch for a cozy, hands-on evening of conversation and creativity. Together, we'll explore how reuse and repair are everyday acts of climate justice — and how moms and caregivers are leading the way. We'll cover: Why reusing and repairing children's clothing matters for our planet and communities The stigma surrounding preloved clothes and how to challenge it Stories of care and resilience woven into the clothes we keep ? Patchwork Practice: Bring an item of children's clothing (or any garment!) in need of some love — or just come to learn. Left Knee Patch will lead us through a beginner-friendly patching activity that you can do from home with simple materials. This is a come-as-you-are space — tea, snacks, messy hair, and sleepy kids welcome.

Drawing from her experience leading youth cooking classes at The Cooking Project in San Francisco and running her sustainable seafood business (Sasha’s Seafood in Tarrytown, NY), Sasha brings heart, skill, and climate solutions straight to the stovetop. Navigating Climate Anxiety and Grief Through Comics Community Event August 5, 2025 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM ET Explore your climate feelings through art. Join cartoonists Denali Sai Nalamalapu and Madeleine Jubilee Saito for a two-hour interactive workshop using comics to process climate anxiety and grief. Through examples from their new books—"Holler: A Graphic Memoir of Rural Resistance" and "You Are a Sacred Place: Visual Poems for Living in Climate Crisis"—you’ll reflect on personal experiences and create short comics that help express emotions words alone can’t reach. No art experience needed—just bring something to write and draw with (digital or analog, whatever you like best). About the artists: • Denali Sai Nalamalapu (they/them) is a climate organizer and comic artist based in Southwest Virginia. • Madeleine Jubilee Saito (she/her) is a Seattle-based cartoonist whose work has been featured in "All We Can Save" and "On Being".
