Difference between
Mind and Presence
Neelam explains the very important distinction between our mind, ego, sense of ‘I’ and Presence.
Many people on the spiritual path have misunderstandings about this very important distinction. We need to break our reliance on the mind and refocus away from the content and objects. When mind arises, we can instead notice the spaciousness, our True Nature, Presence that is already and always Here.
Pre-Video Reflection
Before you watch the video please take a moment to reflect and just notice what it is like to be here now.
Post-Reflections:
- Take a moment to Notice: Presence is Always already Here and all we need to do is stop right now and notice it. Does that mean we need to wait and change or improve into different people to experience it? Or, can we just stop again now and experience it?
Simplied Learning Points. You will learn:
- Realize the difference between Mind and Presence; clarify a fundamental misunderstanding
- Realize that Mind means thought, the sense of “I” or ego; any attempt to change, fix or get rid of Mind (“I”, thought, ego) is Mind as well.
- Realize that Mind, “I", thought, ego — which is all one and the same — naturally arises in Presence, it arises, subsists, and then subsides.
- Notice that out of habit we focus on the content of what arises… we forget to notice all the spaciousness that these objects are arising in. We need to break the habit and re-learn how to bring our attention inward and notice the spaciousness, our True Nature, from which these objects/content arise from.
- Learn that we have a choice, so to speak, to follow thought or emotion or we can learn to notice the spaciousness/Presence that is also already Here. It is not about rejecting or denying; it is about noticing the spaciousness that is Here.
