Hold Electric Utilities Accountable, Support HB 1802!
PJM is the power grid operator that manages the flow of electricity to 65 million people in northern Illinois and a dozen other states.
This organization is dominated by big power generators, transmission companies and electric utilities (like ComEd). At PJM, they vote on policies that have a major impact on how reliable, clean and affordable our electricity is. But get this: These companies often vote in secret.
HB 1802 would begin to fix this problem by requiring Illinois utilities like ComEd to publicly reveal the votes they take at grid operator meetings. (Note: MidAmerican and Ameren are with a separate grid operator that, unlike PJM, makes most votes public. But the info isn't easy to find, so this bill also covers them.)
Please urge your legislators to stand up for Illinois electric customers and support HB 1802.
