Climate change hits our office headquarters! In June 2023, an unprecedented rain and thunderstorm raged through downtown Boise, Idaho. The storm's massive hail quickly plugged up the roof drains on the historic downtown building where our HQ office is located. The roof filled up like a swimming pool and water flooded into the building's ventilation system, which then circulated water instead of air throughout the building. The result was that almost everything in our office was destroyed!
We lost many of our SnowSchool supplies (including our SnowEd NASA kits we were planning to distribute to a variety of SnowSchool sites), all of our tabling and event materials, our entire stash of letterhead and envelopes, sticker stash, computers, printers, and much of the other minutia of organizational existence. Who knew a second story office could flood?! We estimate the damages to be $7,500.
The Boise team took on the mammoth task of sorting through the soggy (quickly-turning moldy) contents of the office to rescue what they could and our headquarters are temporarily relocated. If you'd like to help us rebuild, you can donate to our flood fund below.
