Call your representative today and urge them to protect our freedom to vote.
The Michigan Legislature is back in session, and they are already scheduling committee hearings to review the package of anti-voter bills introduced on 3/24/21. These bills will make voting harder, limiting the voice of Michiganders across the state. All voters deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote and make their voice heard in key decisions.
Here are just a few of the bills that have been introduced:
- Senate Bill 285 makes it harder for you to vote by absentee ballot by forcing you to show a specific type of photo ID in order to even request your absentee ballot. If you are requesting your ballot by mail, you need a color printer to make a copy of your ID.
- Senate Bill 286 removes your right to return your ballot to a drop box after 5pm on the day before Election Day
- Senate Bill 303 forces voters to carry a specific type of photo ID in order to vote in person. If a voter cannot provide that ID, they are forced to cast a provisional ballot.
Please call your state Representative and Senator today to tell them you want pro-voter legislation passed, not these anti-voter bills in the guise of 'election security'. After your call, please document your calls and responses on this form.

Hello! I am a constituent of State House District ________ / state Senate District __________.
I'm calling (Representative/Senator Name) to ask that they publicly oppose this anti-voter legislation. These bills are the latest attempt by special interests to rig our elections in their favor by making it harder for people to vote and create unnecessary barriers to the ballot box.
Can I count on (Representative/Senator Name) to use the power of their office to advocate instead for pro-voter legislation and oppose legislation designed to suppress voting rights in Michigan.
** After you make your call, please fill out this form so we know how many calls went to each office as well as how each legislator plans to act on this important legislation. ** This allows us to assess where we need to continue to build support and/or apply pressure.
Thank you for taking action on behalf of all Michigan voters. If you would like to continue receiving legislative advocacy alerts, please sign up to be a part of VNP's Dial for Democracy team!
