The smokehouse is a gathering place, a place of abundance: it is the smell of smoldering alder and cottonwood curing our fish, meat, and hides; it is the laughter of aunties telling long stories late into the night under the midnight sun. The smokehouse defines the harvest of our summers.

We see the Smokehouse Collective as a place to bring resources together to help our communities thrive, live in the right relationship with the land and each other, and be in conversation over the practices that have been vital to our ability to live and adapt through millennia. We are those of us that believe in the transition of the commercial fishing industry, increasing the food sovereignty and security of rural and urban Alaskan communities, and building land and water-based systems of reciprocity.

Support our work! Funds gathered here will be used to support the community efforts ahead and may eventually invest in:

• a smokehouse and processing space ($2,000 -$12,000)
• community cold storage facilities ($40,000)
• and a down payment or land purchase in Bristol Bay for the buildout of the processing space and community center.
