Businesses Closing for a Day Without Immigrants 2022

There is strength in Unity

We invite businesses to close operations on Sunday, May 1 and Monday, May 2 and accommodate workers, without retaliation, who wish to participate in this unity event to honor the sacrifices and contributions that Latino and immigrant workers have made during this pandemic and during the current labor shortage.

We are escalating this year to a two-day strike because it is critical to escalate the pressure on the President to use his executive power this year to achieve protections for immigrants. Our power depends on our unity. We have to send a message to politicians and corporations that immigration is a priority. Join our Day Without Latinx and Immigrants 2-day statewide general strike on Sunday May 1 and Monday May 2, 2022 in Milwaukee and Madison, WI respectively to demand the following:

For President Biden to:

  • Abolish 287g
  • End For-Profit Detention Centers
  • Create protected status for immigrant workers whose rights are being violated
  • Respect the rights of asylum seekers at our borders
  • Presidential pardon for all immigrants
  • Expand Temporary Protected Status

Wisconsin Republicans to:

  • Stop blocking driver's licenses for everyone!
  • Stop Blocking Equal State Tuition for Immigrants
