We ♥︎ New York City. There is something special about our home, and everyone knows it. It's an iconic place where people from all backgrounds live alongside each other and create music, art, and culture that inspires the world. The city we know and love is also deeply vulnerable to the climate crisis and it will only get worse unless we act – now.

The government can act boldly to protect our city; politicians just choose not to because corporations bankroll their careers to squeeze out everyday people and maximize their profits. And with Trump in office soon, it's even more important that we push for bold, progressive leadership in New York. Our city needs a government that will stand up to the rich and take action to adapt to extreme heat, increased flooding, rising sea levels, and more frequent storms.

And we can make the government do this: when we vote, when we organize, when we act, we win! 

New Yorkers are trend-setters. If we elect a government that funds and implements climate policy at the city-level to tackle climate with the scale and urgency it demands (read: a Green New Deal for NYC), it will set an example for the rest of the country to follow (as usual). 

The Sunrise Movement is a youth movement fighting for a thriving planet where climate, economic, and racial justice are the standard.
