Tell Your Senators: Support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act

The horrific murder of George Floyd was a reminder that significant reform is long overdue to combat systemic racism in America. Joe Biden, Democrats, and Jewish Dems prioritized working to find common sense solutions to the systemic issues that are seeped into our country's fabric on the 2020 campaign trail. We applaud House Democrats for already delivering on their promise by passing H.R.1280, the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

Now, the bill heads to the Senate, where it will take all of our efforts to ensure that we pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act in order to build trust between law enforcement and our communities by addressing systemic racism and bias. The bill takes vital steps to address systemic inequalities in law enforcement by:

  • working to end racial and religious profiling;

  • banning no-knock warrants and chokeholds;

  • requiring body cameras on all law enforcement officers;

  • limiting the amount of military equipment transferred to local police departments;

  • enabling the accountability of police officers accused of wrongdoing;

  • investing in better bias training for law enforcement; and

  • improving transparency on police misconduct

Our Jewish values require that we work to make the world a better and more fair place. That is why we are so passionate about the Senate passing the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

Jewish Dems stand united in backing these reforms. Join us by urging your senators to support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act and help end police violence and racial profiling.
