Take Action: Send a message to your Illinois Legislature, and make calls to Illinois Leadership
Recent Islamophobic and anti-Arab rhetoric shared by Illinois Senator Sara Feigenholtz on social media poses a severe risk to the safety and trust of her constituents. Despite community outreach efforts to engage and educate her on the diverse Muslim and Arab communities within her district, she has continued to amplify harmful, dehumanizing messages.
The real-world consequences of such rhetoric are evident, as seen in the tragic murder of six-year-old Wadee AlFayoumi in Illinois. Illinois launched the Help Stop Hate portal this week to address rising hate incidents and promote safety. Senator Feigenholtz's actions directly undermine these efforts.
We call on the Illinois Senate, including Senate President Don Harmon, to hold Senator Feigenholtz to the same standard she has demanded of others and take immediate action for her resignation. Anything less signals a tolerance for hate and division.
