Rally to Protect Bail Reform & Close Rikers

The crisis on Rikers is only getting worse! Since Mayor Eric Adams took office, 20 people have died in New York City jails and Rikers is the deadliest its been in 25 years. Instead of working to save lives and shut down Rikers, Mayor Adams has been hellbent on calling for more people to be incarcerated at Rikers by pushing to roll back Bail Reform. Now, Governor Hochul is supporting his retrograde approach to public safety and has put forward a proposal to gut bail reform in this years budget. This is a blatant attack on Black, Brown, and low-income New Yorkers and will undoubtedly lead to an increase in pretrial detention across the state. This will also drive up the jail population at Rikers, in the midst of this crisis. This is unacceptable!

Please join us Tuesday, February 28th at 12 pm outside Governor Hochul's NYC Office 633 3rd Ave. (Subway to Grand Central Station) to demand that Governor Hochul protect bail reform in this years budget.

We look forward to seeing you at our action.
