Currently, each state has its own standards for deciding who can carry loaded, concealed guns in public. Some states are much better at keeping guns out of dangerous hands than others.
But the gun industry is muscling a new bill through Congress that would allow absolutely anyone — even someone like George Zimmerman, who shot and killed Trayvon Martin — to carry a loaded, hidden gun in any state in the nation, no questions asked. Basically, no rules, no borders.
The Zimmerman bill would allow anyone with a concealed carry permit in one state to carry that gun in every other U.S. state, regardless of the other state's laws.
In other words, if you have a concealed carry permit in Florida, where it's harder to get a library card or a fishing license than permission to carry a firearm in public, you can take your loaded, hidden gun absolutely anywhere you want — nationwide. Sign on today to say no to the Zimmerman Bill, and no to the gun industry's march to arm anyone.
The gun industry calls this "Concealed Carry Reciprocity" to confuse people, but they're pushing hard for a vote on the Zimmerman bill. We can't let that happen. Congress needs to have a hard time going up against the vast majority of Americans who want to make this nation safer, not more dangerous.
Sign the petition and resist Congress and the gun industry's push to arm anyone at all.
