Dear Texas Lawmakers,

As Texans, we deserve to live in communities free from the constant threat of gun violence. Yet, year after year, the Texas Legislature fails to take meaningful steps to address this public health crisis.

Firearms are the leading cause of death for Texas children and teens. Each year, thousands of Texans are killed or injured in preventable acts of gun violence. Meanwhile, common-sense policies that could save lives—like raising the age to purchase semi-automatic rifles, passing safe gun storage laws, and funding community violence intervention programs—remain stagnant in the Legislature without action.

We, the undersigned, demand you take immediate action during the 2025 legislative session to prioritize gun violence prevention. 

It's time to put the safety of Texans above politics. We urge you to:

• Raise the age to purchase semi-automatic rifles from 18 to 21.
• Pass safe gun storage laws to protect children and prevent tragedies.
• Invest in community violence intervention programs that address the root causes of gun violence.
• Vote against rollbacks to our gun laws.
