Three years ago, a shooter opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 students and educators and wounding 17 more.

A ban on assault weapons could have saved their lives. In many states, it's easier to obtain one of these weapons of war than it is to buy cough medicine. But now – with gun violence prevention champions in the White House AND in Congress – we finally have a chance to ban these deadly weapons for good.
