Affordable solar power is providing predictable savings, well-paying jobs and healthier air to communities all across the country. But despite almost year-round sunshine, most New Mexicans do not have access to local solar. Right now, solar energy is only available to families who can install panels on their roofs, leaving renters and low-income families behind, and locking Tribes and Pueblos out of the ability to power their communities with the sun.
Community solar projects will give communities across New Mexico the opportunity to plug into a solar array and choose local, reliable, and cost-effective clean energy — regardless of housing type or income level.
In 2019, the state legislature almost passed a bill to enact community solar. But almost isn't good enough for families that need savings and clean energy benefits today.
Call on your state legislators to make Community Solar a priority for New Mexico!
