Hospitals are required to give back to the community as a condition of tax exemption, however recent reports by the Lown Institute, the Minnesota Nurses Association, and National Nurses United show that hospitals are spending less and less on giving back to the community.
That means that these not-for-profit hospitals are saving significantly more than they are putting back into the community. We are asking hospital executives to prioritize direct charity care contributions to the community and to patients.
Send your hospitals' leaders an email telling them to invest in communities and safer staffing for patients in hospitals!
