Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA) is currently circulating a sign on letter urging for more humane wild horse management practices at the Devil's Garden Plateau Wild Horse Territory in California. While Congress has passed legislation prohibiting the Forest Service from destroying healthy wild horses and burros and selling these animals for slaughter for processing into commercial products, we must fight to retain this prohibition each year, and concerns remain about whether sufficient measures are being taken to protect these horses from slaughter, including measures to vet buyers and conduct follow-up after sales.
Please take one moment today to send a message to your Representative asking that they join Congressman Lieu's letter to encourage the Forest Service to implement policies to ensure the welfare of federally-protected wild horses at Devil's Garden.
