Take Down Tobacco: National Day of Action
March 18, 2020
COVID-19 has been the topic of many conversations this week and events across the country are being impacted. As a result, Hawai'i Public Health Institute felt it prudent to scale back our physical Take Down Tobacco event. We are disappointed that we have to turn away more than 100 youth from six islands, but as a public health institute, we need to lead by example during this COVID-19 pandemic and avoid hosting a large gathering.
It wasn't an easy decision to make and we are working on alternatives for smaller activities on neighbor islands and opportunities for virtual activities on March 18 for Take Down Tobacco National Day of Action.
We hope that you will have the opportunity to be involved with other Youth Council events in the future, and if you are not currently a Youth Council member, I encourage you to check out www.hiphi.org/youth to learn more and consider joining.
