The recent passage of the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” has cut more than $1 trillion from our health care to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations.  

We must continue to let Congress know that we absolutely won't “get over it” and show them we aren't going anywhere. This bill is a direct attack on the health care of millions of Americans, and it is critical that you tell your Members of Congress NOW that health care cuts harming communities and economies across the country are UNACCEPTABLE. 

Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) are lifelines for health coverage and a foundational source of economic and health security for millions of Americans. They also provide critical funding for the doctors, hospitals, and health care systems on which we all rely.   

This bill will cause 17 million Americans to lose their health insurance, increase health care costs for millions more and devastate our health care system. We will see a dramatic return of millions more uninsured Americans, living sicker, dying younger, racking up medical debt, and knowing they are just one emergency from financial ruin. 

The policies that narrowly passed both the House and the Senate create new administrative burdens and paperwork requirements for millions of people with Medicaid, target specific communities with particular harm, slash federal funding for states which could lead to a reduction in health care services across the board, and pull back rules that made it easier for people to enroll in and maintain coverage. These dangerous policies include: 

• TERMINATING COVERAGE FOR MILLIONS of Americans, largely by forcing eligible people to drop off coverage due to more frequent enrollment verification and mandatory work requirements which will NOT increase employment. 

• INCREASING HEALTH CARE COSTS for consumers and families everywhere by reducing benefits, restricting access, and directly increasing premiums and cost-sharing. 

• FORCING CUTS TO CARE, HEALTH SERVICES AND BENEFITS by gutting core Medicaid funding to states. 

• ATTACKING HEALTH AND HEALTH CARE FOR SPECIFIC COMMUNITIES like immigrant families and vulnerable populations. 

• CUTTING THE SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP), resulting in an estimated 20 million families losing some or all of their SNAP benefits.
