Urge Congress to Pass The Countering Antisemitism Act
Urge Congress to Pass The Countering Antisemitism Act

Antisemitic incidents were on the rise prior to the horrific October 7 attack by Hamas, and antisemitic incidents have skyrocketed since then. Rising antisemitism is in part being driven by the spread and amplification of antisemitic comments, tropes, and conspiracies on social media platforms, which can lead to physical acts of harassment, assault, and vandalism. Antisemitic incidents have increased dramatically in many educational settings over the past several years, with many Jewish students facing discrimination or a hostile environment at schools. While antisemitism most directly and intensely threatens Jewish Americans, it also undermines democracy and threatens the safety and rights of all Americans.

The Countering Antisemitism Act, led by Democratic members of Congress including Sen. Jacky Rosen and Rep. Kathy Manning, takes direct action to protect Jewish Americans from these rising threats. This bill strengthens efforts to combat antisemitism in the United States and directly supports the implementation of President Biden's historic National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism. We thank the Democratic leaders of this bill and urge it to be brought for a vote.

The Countering Antisemitism Act (H.R. 7921/S. 4091):

  • Codifies portions of President Biden's National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism into law;
  • Establishes the first ever National Coordinator to Counter Antisemitism to lead a new Interagency Task Force to Counter Antisemitism;
  • Requires the FBI and other federal agencies to provide an annual threat assessment of antisemitic violent extremism;
  • Designates a senior official in the Department of Education to lead efforts on combating antisemitism in higher education; and
  • Ensures that the Nonprofit Security Grant Program will have the resources necessary to protect houses of worship and Jewish institutions.
