Defend California's Clean Cars Regulations!
For over 50 years, eight presidents—Republicans and Democrats alike—have upheld California's right to set higher standards for emissions than the federal government. And since then, California has led the way on clean air, setting standards that 18 states across the country have adopted, guiding the auto industry's actions, and protecting millions of Americans coast to coast.
Now these waivers are under attack by House Republicans and the Trump Administration, who plan to misuse the Congressional Review Act to not just undo our clean air rules, but prohibit all future action on the issue. The waivers that are under attack would clean up air pollution from vehicles, the number one source of emissions in California. These waivers would provide $12 billion in public health benefits by reducing health risks from the thousands of tons of fossil fuel emissions that cars release every year.
