Support a fair contract at SDHC

TO: President and Chief Executive Officer Lisa Jones
FROM: SDHC workers and supporters

Union members at San Diego Housing Commission are a vital part of the Housing Commission and the San Diego communities we serve. We are dedicated to housing families and individuals. We love the work that we do, but passion alone cannot sustain us. It is time for the Housing Commission to recognize us for the fundamental work that we do to support permanently housing our community members. Though there are many challenges that need to be addressed, our priorities for this year's contract negotiations include:

  • Fair and livable wages: Some of us make less than the low-income families enrolled in our programs. SDHC must commit to making this year's wage increases keep up with the increased cost of living in San Diego County.
  • Remote/hybrid working: As daily expenses and cost of living skyrockets making San Diego the most expensive city to live in the US, we have continuously served a high risk and demanding population. We deserve a greater say in the flexibility of our schedules validating our stability and safety concerns. SDHC must agree to a fair and equitable hybrid model that gives us the flexibility to continue the crucial work of assisting families fight the housing crisis.
