Last week, Miami-Dade's Mayor and County Commissioners let police aggressively drag out and arrest two people who wanted to speak against using our tax dollars to disappear our immigrant neighbors during the public hearing portion of the meeting. Florida Rising is calling on the Miami-Dade board of County Commission and Mayor 1. Condemn the unnecessary use of force that they allowed and ensure any charges on those community member are dropped. 2. Commit to create a culture that encourages participation. 3. End the county's unnecessary collaboration with ICE and commit to full transparency in the process. Beginning with following the lead of Orange County and committing to publicity list all ICE detainees in county jails.
