Washington, DC Gun Violence Memorial Project Collection Event Visibility August 7, 2021 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM ET Anacostia Arts Center, 1231 Good Hope Rd SE, Washington, DC 20020 Thank you for your interest in the Gun Violence Memorial Project. The memorial seeks to preserve individual memories and communicate the magnitude of the issue in built space, and hopes to foster a national healing process that begins with a recognition of the collective loss and its impact on society. The memorial is now open at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The Gun Violence Memorial Project comprises four houses, each built of 700 glass bricks, a reference to the number of people in the U.S. killed by guns every week. Over time, the bricks will continue to be filled with remembrance objects donated by immediate family members of loved ones taken by gun violence. The houses currently hold hundreds of objects that reveal the personal narratives of each victim. To learn more about the project and the size and other requirements of submitting your remembrance object, please visit https://www.gunviolencememorialproject.org/ (click 'contribute an object')
