Gun deaths in North Carolina increased 14% from 2009 to 2018, and with the election of new lawmakers at all levels of government, it will be vital to continue working together to bolster our gun safety advocacy efforts.

Orange is the color that Hadiya Pendleton’s friends wore in her honor when she was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15, just one week after performing at President Obama’s 2nd inaugural parade in 2013. After her death, they honored her life by wearing orange- the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others. Since then, orange has been the defining color of the gun violence prevention movement.
