Nashville Gun Violence Memorial Project - Sept. 25th 10am-5pm & Sept. 26th 2-5pm CST Visibility September 25, 2021 10:00 AM - September 26, 2021 5:00 PM CT Nashville Public Library (Southeast Branch), 5260 Hickory Hollow Pkwy, Ste 201, Antioch, TN 37013 Thank you for your interest in the Gun Violence Memorial Project. The memorial seeks to preserve individual memories and communicate the magnitude of the issue in built space, and hopes to foster a national healing process that begins with a recognition of the collective loss and its impact on society. The memorial is now open at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The Gun Violence Memorial Project comprises four houses, each built of 700 glass bricks, a reference to the number of people in the U.S. killed by guns every week. Over time, the bricks will continue to be filled with remembrance objects donated by immediate family members of loved ones taken by gun violence. The houses currently hold hundreds of objects that reveal the personal narratives of each victim. MO-STL-Be SMART Tabling at 2021 AFSP Out of Darkness Walk Visibility September 26, 2021 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM CT Creve Coeur Lake Park, Tremayne Pavilion, 13725 Marine Ave, Maryland Heights, MO 63043 Be SMART Tabling offered to participants of the 2021 American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Annual Out of Darkness Walk on Sunday, 8/26/21. TWO SHIFTS (2 volunteers work together; Each shift is 2 hours) of Be SMART volunteers at our resource table will speak about kids, guns, and safety with families of loved ones who died from suicide, as they arrive early to register for their family walks around the lake. COVID-19 precautions of masking and distancing will be followed for volunteers who will stand behind the information table. New Be SMART volunteers are welcome and will be partnered with experienced Be SMART volunteers. All volunteers will get 2021 updated Be SMART talking points and advice. First shift volunteers will set up the materials on the table, and 2nd shift volunteers will pack up the materials on the table and bring them home.
