Dear RCHS Friends and Family, Change in all things is sweet – Aristotle
Some people claim that they do not want anything to change, just “get better!” I claim that change is a sign of vitality and, if you have not noticed yet, there is a lot changing at Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS).
We heard (often) about your dislike of the “color coding” for our adoptable pets. We went there during COVID to help our adoption counselors to pre-screen dogs and cats for an expectant adopter who is participating in a computer or phone interaction, not scratching a furry chin! Our adoption promotion has been changed to include a Report Card, complete with training notes, a list of favorite things, a scale of energy level, an introduction, and a great photo. A change that brings joy to the adoption process!

| Celebration of Second Chances Bark to the Future This year's Celebration of Second Chances is like totally going to be the best ever. If you read that like a valley girl, you'll want to be there!
Inspired by the 1980s, "Bark to the Future" is going to be an event to remember. Aside from the great food, fun and furry friends, this event will provide plenty of nostalgia and memorable moments including photo ops with a decked out Delorean along with Maverick and Iceman during cocktail hour. That's all before a radical 80s band rocks the night away. This will be the party of the decade and you're invited! Tickets go on sale in August, but you can add your name to our Priority Invite list today at the link below!

What an incredible day on the course! Our third annual "Tees Fore Tails" golf tournament was our best one yet. It started with a terrific lunch followed by some fun on the links and a lively reception. Special thanks to all of our sponsors along with Ben & Woods from "97.3 The Fan" for emceeing the event for us and the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa for hosting! If you missed out this year, don't worry! We're already planning an even bigger and better event for 2024! |

Anna spent a long time at RCHS before she was rescued. This white rabbit was part of a litter of five bunnies transferred from one of our local rescue partners on October 3, 2018 through FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters.) They were just three months old. Inspired by Disney, they were named Anna, Elsa, Moana, Rapunzel and Philippe. They were so tiny they needed more care than we could provide at the shelter so they went into foster care with a trained RCHS volunteer.
The other four rabbits found homes shortly after, but not Anna. Twice more, Anna went into foster care. Fosters told us that Anna was “very shy” but she would warm up to humans who were patient. We also learned that Anna was not fond of humans reaching into her “space,” especially if food was present. Each time, she returned with great notes from the fosters about her playful, curious spirit and more about her favorite treats, toys and activities. What happens next for Anna is incredible! Click HERE for the happy ending more than four years in the making. |
