Here's an important update from your bargaining team:
"This week, in our first bargaining session for our new contract, we pressed management for safety improvements for patients and staff. We told them we need metal detectors, MOAB training, locked units including LDRP, and equipment that actually works. Was management unaware that we need these things? Of course not. But the fact that we have a process and a venue for presenting these issues, and that management must respond shows a part of the power of our union and our unity.
We reached tentative agreements on important standard contract language, which will make room to dive into the issues that matter most to Nurses. According to your bargaining surveys, wages that can effectively retain staff, forms of recognition of specialized care, and safety and security were at the top of the list.
🚩Red flag: When we talked about our struggles with incompatible & outdated equipment and the need for training on how to use equipment, management tried to gaslight us by saying they ask for equipment concerns at every huddle. But we know from experience that this does NOT happen at every huddle.
Now more than ever, we need participation from everybody in order to negotiate a great contract! We need you to be all-in."
