Lauren Hanawalt Endowed Scholarship Fund Lauren Hanawalt, Lawrence North Class of 2020, was unique in her compassion for others and the love for life that she held in her heart. She had a bright light that shined through for so many people and was an inspiration to her family and friends. Lauren's scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Lawrence North student who demonstrates these attributes and will be a bright light for others in their future endeavors. Lauren's family and friends have a goal of raising $75,000 towards this endowed scholarship fund in her honor. Please keep in mind that the larger the endowment, the more money in scholarships will be available to students each year. ![]()
![]() John Young, Lawrence Central Class of 1977, is back with a second book. Following the 2019 novel, When the Coin is in the Air, this work, Fire in the Field and Other Stories, is a collection of short stories from the literary publisher Golden Antelope Press. Many of the stories are set in the fictional town of Nema, Indiana. Learn more about John and his recent release. ![]() Chris Eley, Lawrence Central Class of 1997, launched Smoking Goose downtown in 2011 as a second act to follow the success of his Goose the Market enterprise, a gourmet deli/meat counter/enoteca he opened in 2007. Not exactly a butcher shop, Eley prefers to categorize Smoking Goose instead as a “meatery.” Learn more about how Smoking Goose sets the bar for sausage in Indianapolis and beyond. ![]() Congratulations to Elizabeth Hibbler, Lawrence Central Class of 2009, who got married on July 3, 2021! ![]() Congrats to Sean O'Connor, Lawrence North Class of 1997, on being appointed as an assistant principal at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia. Sean is starting his 20th year in education with Gwinnett County Public Schools! ![]() USA Today has named Kamyren Garrett, Lawrence Central Class of 2021, the Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Kam is the 2021 Indiana High Jump champion, clearing 7 feet. Kam is also the current U.S. leader at 7-3. IBJ's 20 in their Twenties Indianapolis Business Journal’s inaugural 20 in their twenties class honors up-and-coming leaders in Central Indiana! It’s no surprise that it features some MSDLT alumni! Brookside Community Development Corp., a team made up entirely of Lawrence North Coach Jack Keefer's former players, competed for the TCL title on August 12th, 2021. Jack Keefer was in attendance to cheer his boys on. The team featured: Eron Harris ('12), Chris Holmes ('13), Sean Howard ('13), Michael Parker ('13), Basil Smotherman ('13), Trey Williams ('13), Terell Davis ('14), and Josh Thompson ('14).
