Thursday evenings this summer, join Rock Creek Conservancy and the National Park Service for  FREE fun for all ages near the Carter Barron Amphitheater and at Fort Slocum. Bring a picnic and enjoy music from DJ Lance Reynolds and other games and activities.

Summer in the Parks brings the Rock Creek community together to enjoy our public lands and learn more about how to #RecreateResponsibly in our parks. 

The Summer in the Parks program was originally launched in 1968 and ran until the late 1970s. The program was an effort designed to bring District of Columbia residents into local National Parks for NPS-funded programming. Summer in the Parks featured two distinct components: child enrichment activities such as field trips and day camps; and an extensive and diverse music series targeting all ages featuring local and national performers. 

Rock Creek Conservancy and the National Park Service are excited to continue the program's tradition of engaging our neighbors in fun and family-friendly events throughout Rock Creek Park.
