President Trump has nominated Sarah Pitlyk to serve for a lifetime appointment on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Pitlyk's nomination in October, and a floor vote is likely to take place in the coming weeks. This week we are joining our partners to express concern regarding the coming vote and need you to call Senators to let them know that the confirmation of Pitlyk to the court is dangerous for our health care and reproductive rights.
Pitlyk is a staunch opponent of reproductive health, rights and justice. She has opposed reproductive health technology such as in vitro fertilization, abortion and birth control. Disturbingly, Pitlyk defended David Daleiden, who orchestrated the deceptive videos to smear Planned Parenthood. Though the videos were debunked, Pitlyk continues to spread myths about Planned Parenthood. While working with Runnymede Law Group, she represented several employers in a challenge to a St. Louis non-discrimination law that protects individuals form being fired or evicted from housing based on their reproductive decisions which include the use of birth control or in vitro fertilization.
Judges serve life time appointments and render decisions affecting millions of people. Just this week Senator Susan Collins (ME-R) publicly opposed the nomination and voiced concern regarding Pitlyk's lack of trial experience, as well as her stance on abortion, gestational surrogacy, and past legal work. Sarah Pitlyk lacks the judicial temperament needed to be a fair minded jurist for any cases concerning reproductive health, rights, and justice. Given her troubling record she should not be confirmed.
NOTE: Due to the holiday next week, PRH will not have a Wednesday Action on 11/27/2019.

I am a physician/constituent from [your state] and an advocate/supporter with Physicians for Reproductive Health. I am calling to urge Senator _____________ to oppose the confirmation of Sarah Pitlyk to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
As a physician [supporter of reproductive health care], I am alarmed by the track record Sarah Pitlyk holds around reproductive health, rights and justice. Pitlyk has a clear political agenda and cannot be impartial when deciding cases concerning reproductive health care or women’s rights. I am concerned that she will not respect precedent on the constitutional right to abortion and that she lacks the judicial temperament essential for a lifetime appointment.
Please ask Senator _________ to firmly oppose the confirmation of Sarah Pitlyk to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
