In April, the Lawrence Central Class of 1971 will gather to celebrate 50 years since they walked the halls at Lawrence Central High School. Fifty years of loves and losses, raising families, and careers, and yet, those high school memories are still so vivid. While classmates may have lost touch due to time and distance, they are forever linked by sharing those formative years at Lawrence Central. To say thank you and give back to LC (and the MSD of Lawrence Township), the class decided to raise the funds necessary to give a meaningful and lasting gift. They have commissioned an LC historical timeline to be installed when the renovations are complete. They have already raised over $14,000 toward the goal of $19,710.
Reunion planning committee member, Ace Yakey, shared, “We wanted to do something that has lasting value to commemorate our time at Lawrence Central. We hope we can serve as an example to other classes.” Tax deductible contributions for this Class of 1971 Gift are being held in a Designated Fund at the Lawrence Township School Foundation (LTSF).
“We are honored to assist the LC Class of 1971 with this project. We are grateful they included this legacy gift in their reunion celebration. We can’t wait to welcome them back to LC,” replied LTSF Board President, Barb Austin.
