We are here for you and hope you are doing well! We have gathered many resources for you during this time and hope you find these useful!

  • Did you know that you can use your library card online to access books and audio books? If you don’t have a library card many libraries are offering them over the phone. Visit your local library’s website to find out what apps they are using.
  • Resources for parents, family and youth: The National Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health has videos, toolkits, and activities to support parents and caregivers.
  • The Department of Human Services has many resources available across a wide variety of topics, including childcare guidance, child support, Medicaid, food security, and foster care. They also have external resources such as, stress management for exposed workers, sustaining resilience, looking after your mental health, and price gouging concerns.
  • Your Life Iowa from the Iowa Department of Public Health has a statewide crisis line.
  • The Iowa Department of Human Rights has created a page where people can look up where to apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program in your county. Applications are all being taken by phone right now, and the deadline to apply has been extended to May 31, 2020.

NAMI Iowa is now offering three virtual statewide support groups. These groups meet weekly via Zoom and are free to join. They have multiple Connections groups (for those living with a mental illness) and an evening Family Support group (for those supporting a loved one with mental illness). Individuals must sign up for access to the support groups. Learn more and sign up here!
