Remembering Marcia Alvey

Marcia Alvey was a beloved attorney, community member, and one of the first members of the Catalyst Transgender Leadership Cohort that was organized by Basic Rights Oregon. Through the cohort, she found friends and connections who supported one another in their daily lives and provided an affirming, trans-centered space.

From there, Marcia became a staunch advocate and cheerleader for fellow trans people throughout Portland and beyond, continually showing up to Basic Rights Oregon events, Pride Parades, and never failing to provide positive energy wherever she went.

Her unwavering support of Basic Rights Oregon lifted up our fight for transgender justice every day, and we seek to continue our work in Marcia's memory.
