AEP's West Virginia subsidiaries, Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power, bought too much coal. Unable to store it, they burned the excess supply, which lost them A LOT of money (Tens of millions of dollars!!!) throughout 2023, and they will likely continue losing money in 2024 doing the same thing. I am concerned that AEP's uneconomic decision to buy too much coal is going to cost me and fellow West Virginians money.
