ENEC Letter Campaign 2024

Tell the WV Public Service Commission you don't want to pay for AEP's mistakes

AEP's West Virginia subsidiaries, Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power, bought too much coal. Unable to store it, they burned the excess supply, which lost them A LOT of money (Tens of millions of dollars!!!) throughout 2023, and they will likely continue losing money in 2024 doing the same thing. Now, they are looking to raise rates in AEP territory. By signing the letter below, you are asking the PSC to make sure we do NOT have to pay for their mistake.

Re: 24-0413-E-ENEC

Dear Commissioner,

I am concerned that AEP's uneconomic decision to buy too much coal is going to cost me and fellow West Virginians money.

> Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power of AEP made the poor decision of buying too much coal. > They ran power plants when they should not have been to get rid of it, losing tens of millions of dollars in the process. > Now they are asking you, the PSC, to increase our rates. > We are concerned that this mistake will be costing us money! > We should NOT have to pay for AEP's mistakes.

We are asking you, the PSC, to protect us, the hardworking citizens from having to bailout a utility for its own bad business practices.
