In a remarkable display of growth, United Way of South Sarasota County skyrocketed our services to incredible heights by providing assistance to 38 times more residents in South County in 2022!
In turn, this means hundreds of evictions in South County have been prevented, families did not have to go to sleep hungry without power or water, and more of our community members were able to purchase gas to get to and from work, allowing them to provide financially for their families. Thousands of hardworking families and fragile seniors have been supported through our programs and direct service initiatives over the past few years.
With that, we are left with a big question, “HOW?” How have we been able to change the dynamic for thousands of South Sarasota County residents, despite a global pandemic and the most catastrophic hurricane seen in SWFL?
The leaps and strides that have been made at our organization in the past few years have come from a philosophy we call “Loving Local.”
Thanks to those who “Love Local,” our supporting heroes have truly made a difference! Through their selfless acts of advocacy and volunteerism, UWSSC has grown into the go-to resource hub providing direct aid and support to those who need it most. All funds raised in South Sarasota County, stay here in South Sarasota County. With that, generous donors like you have played a key role in providing funds that will continue to sustain this important lifeline for our community.
Thanks to your support, UWSSC's impact in South County has multiplied our service capacity by a remarkable 38 times! With your support, we can do it again!
Please help us continue our work and raise the bar even further. The future success of South County is directly tied to the financial stability of our ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, yet Employed) households. Our teachers, restaurant workers, retail employees, and even first responders depend on you.
This Spring, Love Local by donating and volunteering with us - together we can create positive change and be stronger than ever.
With gratitude,
Barbara Cruz
