Call for Moratorium on Roundups & Investigation of BLM Abuse

The Bureau of Land Management is unleashing an unprecedented assault on America's federally-protected wild horses and burros, using $21 million in funds appropriated by Congress to round up unprecedented numbers of wild horses and burros from Western public lands.

Congress directed the BLM to conduct roundups in accordance with the agency's Comprehensive Animal Welfare (CAWP) guidelines and in conjunction with comprehensive fertility control programs. But, as expected, the BLM is using the funds to round up wild horses and burros in numbers not seen in decades (if ever), while using fertility control in a token manner on a small number of mares.

At the same time, the agency is routinely violating its CAWP guidelines with NO consequence for the abuse it is inflicting on our cherished mustangs and burros.

It's time to demand that Congress stop throwing money at the BLM to brutalize round up wild horses from our public lands while failing to implement humane, scientific management of these animals in the wild.

Join us today in demanding an immediate moratorium on roundups and a Congressional investigation into the BLM's rampant animal welfare violations and failure to heed Congress' directives to implement fertility control as a humane alternative to brutal roundups.

There's not a moment to waste -- the largest roundup in BLM history -- 2500 horses from Wyoming's Red Desert -- is just around the corner. Please sign and share our petition today.
