Strengthening our democracy for reproductive freedom this omnibus season

We are at a pivotal moment in our country's history and the choice we make today will shape the future of our state and our nation.

At the moment, the Minnesota House is discussing and working to advance pro-voter legislation that would protect and strengthen the freedom to vote, amplify the voices of Minnesotans by reducing the influence of dark money and corporations in our politics, and ensure that our democracy is fair and responsive to the needs of Minnesotans.

But the Senate is introducing anti-voter bills in an attempt to silence the voices of all Minnesotans. Voter suppression laws often disproportionately harm the same communities that are most affected by abortion bans and restrictions: people of color, young people, LGBTQ folks, and low-income communities.

The connection between voting rights, the influence of money in politics, and reproductive rights aren't by accident. When paid-for elected officials establish barriers that disenfranchise and deny participation of communities from voting, policies, and decisions are made without the voices of communities most impacted.

We must make every effort to ensure every Minnesotan can have their say and have the fairness, freedom, and representation that our democracy promises is possible.

This is our opportunity to tell the Minnesota House we support their efforts to strengthen the freedom to vote and thus, reproductive freedom for all Minnesotans and demand the Minnesota Senate to do the same. Thank you for your leadership!
