SB 134 - Ombudsman for correctional services - This bill would establish a Correctional Ombudsman Unit to provide impartial independent oversight of the correctional system. The Unit would be required to conduct investigations, reviews, and assessments of administrative acts taken by the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services or in relation to individuals confined by the Department. It would also require the Unit to refer matters for criminal charges or disciplinary proceedings as appropriate.
