Take Action: Equitable Access to Biscuit Run Park

The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is working with Albemarle County, Habitat for Humanity and other community partners to accelerate a new entrance to Biscuit Run Park near Hickory Street in Albemarle County, just outside Charlottesville. The bridge and trail, which will cross Biscuit Run on the park's western side, will also eventually connect to Fifth Street Station and downtown Charlottesville. But, we need your help.

Currently, the County is planning to build the bridge in 2027. We believe they should move that up to 2025, at the same time a major stream restoration project in the area is already set to take place. If the County were to restore the stream and build the bridge at the same time (rather than wait until 2027), it could save significant costs, minimize environmental impacts, and make the park and greenway network available to more people, sooner.

PEC is supporting community members in efforts toward a comprehensive network of bicycle and pedestrian trails and greenways in Charlottesville and Albemarle's urban core. Learn how →
