No unfair hunting practices in Kenai National Wildlife Refuge!

The National Park Service recently finalized new rules that allow the killing of mother bears and cubs while they hibernate, the shooting of wolves their pups while they den, and the shooting of caribou while they swim across rivers in national preserves. Hunters can also lure bears with foods like doughnuts and dog food so they can more easily be killed.

Some of these unfair practices could soon spread to another breathtaking bear-viewing habitat — the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Recently the Trump administration proposed new rules to allow brown bear baiting in parts of the refuge, and they also aim to make it easier to run traplines to kill wolves despite risk to public safety and pets in the region. These approaches to wildlife management are inappropriate on a national wildlife refuge, so please submit a comment today to object to these unsporting hunting practices on the Kenai!

I'm opposed to brown bear baiting and dangerous trapping practices in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, where State of Alaska predator control practices should not be allowed. These practices have no place in our national wildlife refuges, and they pose danger to people and healthy wildlife populations alike. The agency should retain control over regulating these activities and reject these particular proposed changes.
