Grand Targhee Resort (Targhee) has proposed a major and problematic expansion, and the Caribou-Targhee National Forest is evaluating the proposal through an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Targhee's full proposed expansion includes two additional boundary expansions into critical habitat, more-than-double the amount of skier capacity and would compound pressures on local infrastructure and natural resources.
This expansion isn't inevitable. By working with a partnership of local community groups, grassroots locals, and regional and national organizations we believe we can impact the outcome of the EIS. We are advocating for responsible development within existing boundaries and for mitigation measures to offset impacts.
The Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance will facilitate a grassroots coalition campaign to encourage public involvement throughout the Targhee NEPA process and advocate for the best possible outcome. We are looking for donors to commit support at a meaningful level so we can fully engage in this grassroots campaign. Will you join us in these efforts and donate?
