Support Community Solar

Pass and support bills that will enable community solar programs in West Virginia.

Community solar offers the benefit of solar to those who can't, or prefer not to, install solar panels on their homes. These projects enable individuals, businesses, or organizations to purchase or subscribe to a “share” in a community solar project. Opening the door to these programs will help more West Virginia families access solar, lower their bills, and stabilize monthly budgets—all while driving market competition and creating thousands of good, local jobs for West Virginians. 

A new study by West Virginians for Energy Freedom estimates that installing 200MW of community solar projects in the state would: 

● Generate $386.3 million in new sales
● Create more than 1,630 direct jobs and an additional related 2,500 jobs
● Save community solar subscribers collectively $2.6–$5.3 million per year on their electric bills

I am counting on you to support community solar in our state, because right now, when it comes to access to cheaper renewable electricity, West Virginians' choices are limited.

A competitive and well-structured community solar program would expand our state's economy and energy freedom.
