For years, the GOP has actively harbored white supremacy, extremism, and antisemitism within its midst. Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene continue to make violent threats against elected officials, and Donald Trump, the real leader of the Republican Party, emboldens and gives platforms to bigots and antisemites. His defense of holocaust deniers, Christian nationalists, and violent insurrectionists along with his continued insistence that Jews are “disloyal” must be fully condemned by Republican leadership.
Instead, Kevin McCarthy, the Republican speaker of the House, is playing partisan politics with extremism. He removed Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from the House Intelligence Committee and Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. At the same time, he seeks reinstated Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar and gave unprecedented power to a slew of election deniers, violent insurrectionists, and white supremacists.
We must always be able and willing to call out antisemitism wherever it exists. However, there is no equivalency between the two parties on this issue. The Democrats who McCarthy removed from committee assignments have never advocated for violence or murder of their colleagues. Democrats consistently call out antisemitism - the GOP actively brings it into the mainstream.
Make your voice clear: The Democrats who McCarthy removed from their committee assignments are qualified to serve on those committees. The Republicans who McCarthy seeks to reinstate are not qualified to serve in Congress, let alone on any committees.
Sign here to call out Republican hypocrisy and condemn Kevin McCarthy's efforts to weaponize antisemitism and promote falsehoods.
