Use your voice to ban toxic chemicals in menstrual products!

Send a Letter to Ask Governor Hochul to Protect Our Health and Ban PFAS and Other Toxic Chemicals in Period Products!

Did you know companies have been using toxic chemicals in menstrual products for decades? Chemicals like: formaldehyde, PFAS, lead, and mercury. The presence of these toxics cause health issues like reproductive challenges, weakened immune systems, and even cancer. Over a lifetime, a menstruator will spend up to 84,000 hours actively on their period and will use as many as 10,000 products; products contaminated by the companies they are purchasing from. That ends now.

The Ban on PFAS & Toxic Chemicals in Menstrual Products Bill (S.1548/ A.1502) will ban toxic chemicals in period products. The bill has passed in both houses and is now on its way to Governor Hochul's desk to sign into law.

Tell Governor Hochul not to wait, and to sign the bill into law today! Help make a difference by sending Governor Hochul a letter today!

This letter will go directly to Governor Kathy Hochul's office. By sending this letter, you are using your right to advocate for us all. Here you will find a sample letter. This letter is ready to send on its own. However, it will be most powerful if you take a couple minutes to make the sample text your own. Here are some tips: keep it relatively short, and keep the "ask" - to support a legislative ban of toxic ingredients in menstrual products - close to the top. This would be a good time to discuss a personal experience that you feel is relevant to this bill. Are you a healthcare professional, teacher, or parent? Share how hidden harmful chemicals can affect the people you work with and care for.

Once you click “send letter”, congratulations, you are officially an advocate! You have used your voice to make New York a cleaner and healthier place.

Thank you!
