Our schools deserve accountable leadership: Rep. Aron Maberry Should Resign from School Board

Our schools deserve accountable leadership.

Regardless of zip code or political party, Montgomery County residents want safe, honest, equitable and fully funded public schools that serve all students. This starts by having a local school board that is accountable to our students, educators, and parents not out-of-state special interests who attempt to meddle in Tennessee politics. Montgomery County deserves to have accountable leadership that can make the best decisions for our students, educators and families.

Given Rep. Aron Maberry's dual roles as a state legislator and a school board member, we call on him to resign from his seat on the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board. Rep. Maberry's votes on both bodies significantly reduces accountability and transparency for private and charter schools, undermining the public's ability to track literacy outcomes and the effective use of taxpayer dollars

Maberry's dual roles, and its broader negative impact on public education and accountability in Tennessee pose a clear conflict of interest between our students, the state, and his own interests. He must resign.

A group of Clarksville citizens have lodged a formal complaint with the Bureau of Ethics calling for an investigation. You can read the full complaint HERE.
