VREA Summit 2025

We are excited to announce the upcoming VREA Summit: Refresh Roe, a pivotal community gathering dedicated to advancing the conversation around reproductive justice. This year's summit will bring together thought leaders, advocates, and activists who are committed to building a more equitable future for all Virginians and communities, particularly those most marginalized in our state. The theme is Refresh Roe, a campaign that we launched last year, looking to shift the narrative of access for people seeking abortion care in Virginia. Virginia is more progressive than “Roe” and we need to seek more expansive progress for abortion care access and continue to build on the progress we have already made. 

The summit will take place on July 19th @9:30am at Marriott The Draftsman in Charlottesville, VA. We will have a series of thought-provoking panels addressing critical issues in reproductive justice, including session listed below: 

 An Introduction to Reproductive Justice 
An overview of the history & context of the reproductive rights and  justice movements 

Self-Determination and Community Justice 

Explores social issues and injustices affecting the ability to choose when and how to be a parent in communities - particularly LGBTQ and communities of color – that are facing injustice.

Sexual Health & Empowerment 

Discusses sexual health and well-being within marginalized communities – particularly LGBTQ and communities of color - including STI and pregnancy prevention, pleasure, consent, and domestic violence and sexual assault. 

Civic Engagement: Making the Movement Happen 

Explores topics of community care, civic engagement, voting rights, and the importance of actively responding to electoral and legislative issues such as the Constitutional Amendment and the Contraceptive Equity Act
