No More Property Tax Cuts

Fill out the form below to let your legislators know the proposed cuts to property taxes will harm the essential local services that you use.

Don't worry about sounding like an expert, or overly professional. Just use your own words to show your legislators that you are a real person and that you care about the issue!

Here are some talking points for you to consider:

  • Hard working Wyoming women deserve to know that the taxes they pay will support the community services and education they use to learn, grow, and build community.
  • This property tax cuts too far into our Wyoming schools, community colleges, senior centers and many more local services.

Two bill examples that would have very large impact:

HB 169 - Homeowner Tax Exemption-2025 and 2026: This bill cuts property taxes by 50% for EVERY residential property including second homes and any rental units a person may own. Additionally, this bill would NOT begin to fully cover the funding gap that would exist for counties.

SF 67 - Long-Term Homeowner Tax Exemption-Revisions: This bill amends last year's adopted law. The bill is unchanged in that to qualify for property tax breaks you must be 65 or older and have lived in your house for 25 years. However, it SHORTENS the amount of time you must reside in your home from 8 months to 6 months of the year. This expands eligibility, mostly to second home owners. The cost for the program is unknown as the adopted law has not been in effect for a fully year. However assessors testified they felt it would be substantial.
