As Congress engages in the appropriations process for Fiscal Year 2025, a concerning trend has emerged, with anti-trans politicians resorting to a new strategy to advance their agenda against our community. Every year, Congress establishes funding levels for federal agencies to ensure proper allocation of resources and responsible expenditure. However, this year, anti-LGBTQIA+ extremists are surreptitiously introducing provisions within the budget that aim to deprive trans people of essential medical care, access to social services, and protection of their civil rights. Their hope is that these measures will go unnoticed or lose public interest due to the complexity of the process. The American people deserve a transparent appropriations process that funds the federal government without concealed attacks on trans individuals or any other marginalized populations.
